Community
The Jewish Community in the Balearic Islands was founded by residents, mainly from the United Kingdom, in 1971 under the name of the Israeli Community of Palma de Mallorca. The first public religious service was held in 1966, and its current headquarters were inaugurated in 1987 in a very moving ceremony, marking the return of the official Jewish faith after 500 years. In 2004, it was renamed the Jewish Community of the Balearic Islands (CJIB).
Synagogue
With the arrival of our new Rabbi and his family the CJIB will offer services and a wide range of religious, educational, social and cultural activities, with special programs for the children, adolescents, adults and the elderly.
Guided by the principles of Halajá and as a member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain, the CJIB is an open and plural institution that seeks to guarantee the continuity of the tradition and the Jewish presence in Mallorca and the Balearic Islands.
